Blacktip sharks are found worldwide in inshore and oshore tropical to
subtropical waters. They prefer to stay in the 30m depth zone but will dive to
over 60m. The average size is 1.5m (4.9ft) with a maximum reported length
of 2.5m (8.5ft).
They feed mainly on small schooling shes such as sardines, mackerel and
many other bony shes, they are known to breach out of the water whilst
feeding.
The teeth on the upper and lower jaw are almost identical, they have a broad
base and are long and pointy with many ne serrations. The International
Shark Attack File has recorded that Blacktips are responsible for 28
unprovoked attacks on humans.
